When it comes to running "cyberpunk heists" how do you manage things procedurally? Chromatic Shadows uses a "mission phase" structure to guide the players through a series of questions and criteria. The tools exist to minimize GM handholding and empower the players to steer the course of action.

121

Kris H. @1matrixghost.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

Question for you indie RPG designers who gave your game an "open license" for 3rd party content creators... how did you do it? What sort of license did you use and why?

000

Kris H. @1matrixghost.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

The procedural tools in Chromatic Shadows are significant. Build a campaign web, add factional conflicts, NPCs, rolled zones and sites. Drop in procedurally created occult assets. Roll a "weird sprawl event" as an inciting incident. String it all together. Let loose in the weird haunted sprawl.

Shadowrun, bless its heart, leans into this trope with gleefully earnest stupidness. Also apparently in 2054 Philly is still Like That.

"What kinda goose you lookin' to douche?" lives rent-free in my head as the iconic example of endearingly stupid cyberpunk hacker jargon.

also if you want to understand Krinn's kinks you should understand that she read "Striper Assassin," "Lila the Werewolf," and "The Heroic Myth of Lt. Nora Argamentine" at a very impressionable age

The primary appeal of Chromatic Shadows for a lot of folks seems to be that it does "bucket o'dice" Shadowrun-style gameplay with cleaner, more streamlined mechanics. And for those that don't want elf-flavored cyberpunk, it trades fantasy for high strangeness & cosmic horror. #occult #cyberpunk
