Here because of my disgust with Elon & for the writers & editors Writer still unpublished. I'm a freelance flak, because my 2 MA's (African Studies/International Affairs) never led to a career & law school wouldn't have me. I did manage to raise 2 kids.

I mean if I ever taught a film making course, if the audience notices the tropes because you've ignored character or dialogue, the film most likely has failed. The last three of Nolan's films were failures (maybe more) they meet the technical challenge but failed to illuminate the subject

It’s so funny when people are like “sure you’re an abolitionist now but wait until you’re the victim of a property crime.” Buddy, the most useful thing the police have ever done for property crime is put the form you need to submit to your insurance online.

They warned me that if I voted for Kamala Harris we’d get a new deal with the Iranian regime worse than the JCPOA. I voted for Kamala, and they were right.

Mamdani feels so refreshing because he's **an emotionally regulated man** who is unthreatened by other people. Related: watching a gregarious public servant connect with other people and express joy and pleasure at helping is a gift.

Military participation in the spectacle in D.C. is a reminder that trust in our armed forces depends on them standing apart.

Confucius 500 BC: "By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest." It is perhaps more relevant to look at China given their long, contextual view vs US rushed, selfish philosophy.

I mean everyone does that with columnists if you read the comments, including possibly myself. We all tend to view those with public personas and think we know them, even though we are strangers, and thus reply as individuals. Not just writers but actors, politicians, etc.

Sure. In that same manner the KKK don't do what they did because people chanted its slogans or waved the confederate flag--but those chanting its slogans or waving the flag are directly egging them on.

No, that's not what it means as that is not how grammar works. Nor the intention. Given a Palestinian org, the ruling authority of Gaza, had in their constitution destroying Jews, & the ethnic cleansing of them-which they quite recently executed on--the benefit of the doubt is unreasonable

Equating those two is what makes the intifada phrase so biased. Vive la revolution was about class/elites situation which translates easily out of its historical situation. The Interfada, is about two geographical claimants to land and thus to "Globalize it" suggests Jews are evil worldwide elites

She misses totally an aspect of romance writing--the audience. Genre brings structure, certain requirements etc. but people still want the unique qualities individual writers bring. No where is this more true than romance-whose readers want to be intimate with people.

I wasn't a super fan of the BadBunny show; still I think it funny that he a literal, legal wedding and lots of scenes of family and kid rock sung about screwing children and under age girls, and they want us to believe Kid Rock's was about faith and family

I'm not sure what I think of this speech. There are lot places congress should take a stand medically. Kids should be vaccinated for example. Others they should stay out. But the intro to the speech rings weird to me. A childhood without pain? That doesn't exist, even in the best circumstances.

Also, your premise is strange. People tallking making fun of how Black people talk, saying their culture is Sh*t or slavery was good for them isn't the worst problem they have. But it absolutely feeds into the worst problems. One ignores at one's peril.

Yes, but not one without an ideology, and in that ideology one that has demonized Jews (among others to be sure). Also, I mean, c'mon, the idea that Jews area threat to the caliphate is quite clear.

He's reacting to the claim there were no white male millennial writers in the New Yorker in 8 months etc. But a little sleuthing finds a 10 year tracking from around 2013 too 2025 which shows far from icing out men, they dominate in many departments still, are roughly equal in others.

But you get anti-semitic violence by tolerating the small anti-semitic stuff. Asking people to ignore a phrase that can mean violence, has been used to mean them, well that's small time anti-semitism. It's how Trump's racism became ok again, small permissions.

I think the story of eugenics is much more complicated than that--which is not to say that some skeevy people embraced & ran with it. But as a plus size women myself, who embraces the idea of health not simply numbers--one also has understand that obesity contributes negatively to several conditions

The concept of the ideal body is the across many cultures. In China famously women had their feet bound, often until they rot. In some African cultures, fatness was so prized girls were prepped for marriage the same way geese raised for foie gras are--practically force fed. And so, very many more.

Perhaps when speaking off this issue, don't just randomly include intersex people or perpetuate the idea that intersex people are some sort of hermaphradite. Most disorders of sexual development don' t involve a lack of clarity re sex and even those that do, that is only the surface/ early on

They needed an excuse to write about people fired from charges that might not be legit, especially without due process. So they went with this to their editor. May have had it hanging about a while. It's still nuts. But that's why.
