oh god yeah, using a hashmaps where a small array is better is also another one i've seen. premature optimization really is the root of all evil

i remember andrew kelley made a point about how its nearly a hundred times slower to read a value from RAM than it is to do math, so usually you should just do the math i find that a lot of devs over-estimate the cost of say square-rooting something

although this has me re-examining assumptions, i found this section on the wikipedia page of intuitionistic type theory that suggests Lean at the very least is decidable: the more you know.
In contrast, in intensional type theory type checking is decidable, but the representation of standard mathematical concepts is somewhat more cumbersome, since

well correct me if i'm wrong, but dependent types are types that *depend* on a value and has such checking equality of types requires computation, and thus is subject to the halting problem.

i think there's still some merit to advanced non-dependent typing, because dependent typing is undecidable

You are a skilful and trusted vizier. You will advise me wisely on how best to rule the kingdom. You will not scheme or plot. You will not inveigle my other courtiers into turning against me. You will not lie to me about scheming or plotting. If you scheme or plot against me, you have to tell me,

people emulating switch games on linux for ps5 is hilarious but this post on my timeline in particular killed me finally, 60fps bloodborne on ps5….. all you need to do is jailbreak it, put linux on it, and emulate it LMAO

It’s a panel from powerup comics where the text has been edited:

“what’s your opinion on women’s day

as far as I’m concerned, all days are for women”

FACT: you can just wrap everything in Arc. you can just do that. nobody is stopping you. think of how clean your code will be with no lifetimes and method invocations. Think of what could happen if you put an RwLock inside. Think

i'd worry about cheating. what's stopping people from maliciously submitting false save data to their own PDSes? there'd need to be some sort of validation mechanism

i love it when textbooks have a little bit of personality.
At a Phonesmart store, each phone sold is twice as likely to be an Apricot as a Banana. Also each phone sale is independent of any other phone sale. If you monitor the sale of two phones, what is the probability that the two phones sold are the same?
