Was this at Barcrest in Ashton under Lyne? I worked there for a while after Binary Design folded. I always like the idea of Forth, but I never found it as easy to program in as 'normal' programming languages.

Indeed. Also ex UK game dev, and commercial developer, I have more side projects than I could hope to finish. In fact my current employer has ended up using several of my open source projects, so they are quite happy about the situation.

Hi I'm trying to run this on Ubuntu 24.04, (apt & appimage) and are getting the message that it cant load /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.43' - 24.04 ships with v2.39. could you make a build for earlier versions of glibc? Also any chance of an ARM build for raspberry pi. Thanks!!!

I'm doing an eval of UI libs for $(dayjob) to replace QT in products. Assuming non-web tech, Dear Imgui, is the winner for ease of use and features, wxwidgets is good if you want the native look, fltk is also worth a look. I use imgui for my own projects, so I may be biased.

I've done that too, wrote in C but debugged in x86 assembler. After a while you can see the C constructs in the assembly language, and it's very useful for understanding the underlying memory layout of C code.

68000 was glorious compared to the 8bit CPUs, so many registers, and any operation would work on any data register. Then I moved to the PC with its segmented 16bit memory model. 16bit x86 was a cruel and unusual punishment compared to the 68000. It's then I learned C.

Same here, I also used to stay up late and watch the open university lectures on BBC2. I didn't understand much of it, but it showed glimpses into worlds I never knew existed until then.
