The elk herd paid us a visit this morning. I'm afraid the really big buck is still missing. Young buck clearly not as experienced at protecting the women and children. ☹️🦌

No greenhouse? No problem! Super happy with my DIY hobby grow setup! Shelves were heavily discounted Amazon returns. DIY drip trays made out of boot trays or under-bed storage containers + fluorescent lighting diffusing grates. Platycerium mounts are deconstructed orchid baskets.

The low pro alpine garden is coming along nicely. The terracotta pots were washed with lime, earthworm castings and milk paint then lightly coated in clear gloss to seal. I've just potted my latest haul from Dancing Oaks + Edelweiss + MidwestOrchidCo. Lots of funzy, hairy grey-green cushion mounds.

Mounted my new platycerium ridleyi + ridleyi (wide AKA cloud form) + madagadcariense! With the orchid fans going 24/7 weekly waterings weren't enough so I installed water wicks to all my platycerium mounts so the plants could self serve. 😊🌱 #platycerium

Ziggy had a blind play date with Olive (Golden doodle) today but Olive had to cancel. Annie (Springer spaniel) was home when we got home so he ran around with Annie instead. He's such a playboy. 🐾😎🤣

How I water my playceriums in between a good monthly soak in fertilizer (Kelpak from FirstRays). You're supposed to wait for the moss to dry in between. This one is due for a quick zhuzh. The dehydrated moss will bounce back where you poked through after it's been rehydrated. 💦🌱✨ #platycerium
