By Cory Doctorow (GPG 0xBF3D9110957E5F4C) @doctorow.pluralistic.net · 07/04/2026Some (very foolish) people say that Starlink represents a competitive alternative to fiber. This is nonsense - first, because Starlink is another natural monopoly (how many competing satellite constellations can we cram into stable orbits before they start smashing into each other?). 6/ 1290
Doug Mohney @dougontech.bsky.social · 07/04/2026Over half of US households are passed with fiber, last I checked FBA stats. 000
smithcraft.bsky.social @smithcraft.bsky.social · 07/04/2026I live in a major metropolitan area and the fiber I can get is pathetic. But in the rural part of the state, they can get fiber that's symmetrical 1GB that costs less than what I was paying Comcast for 800/200. Monopolies, and their protectionist agreements, can kiss my ASS! 0282
