The only allegory in SFF that doesnt suck ass is Dune. And that's because what Dune is trying to covertly signal is so ridiculous and yet so eloquently put that you can't even hate him for it.
@dov.bsky.socialTolkien was right. There is no need to do allegory. Ever, about anything. The stupid reader won't get it, and the smart reader will either get it and hate you for patronising them, or love you for saying what they already think. Fuck that. Create for the sake of creating.
