📖 In this snippet from my editing work-in-progress, Eigyr and her mother Gwenwyn face a new challenge together. #BookSky #historicalfantasy #amediting #BeowulfConcordance

The novel excerpt overlaid on a watercolor image of Tintagel’s steep sea cliffs amid mist and crashing waves:

A sudden popping sensation shocked Eigyr. A gush of warmth soaked the edge of the bed where she sat, streaming down her calves and pattering against the rushes. The spindle dropped, trailing thread and wool.

“I’ve lost it!” She clutched her huge belly, lip quivering.

Laying her weaving tablet aside, Gwenwyn rose from the hearthside and came to her daughter. “No, dear, that’s the baby announcing itself.”

Eigyr took strength from her mother’s confidence. It’s begun. There’s no turning back.
