Just heard about this huge (49 state) long covid trial using tirzepetide (aka zepbound) one of the newer glp meds. It’s run by researchers at scripps, funded by the eric & wendy schmidt foundation. I have been wondering if GLP-1s might be useful for long COVID because for many people they are profoundly anti-inflammatory. Glad they are testing it.

Yes, this looks great & many thanks for posting! At some point would also be nice if future studies would allow for people who can verify their condition but have had a conveyor belt of doctors saying "have you tried more exercise, yoga, etc?" because answering no to question below boots you out. 🫤

Survey question from the eligibility determination for the long COVID test, reading "Will you be able to provide documentation of Long COVID diagnosis?" and then listing acceptable types of diagnosis documents from doctors' offices. It's entirely understandable that clinical study people don't want to also be handling diagnosis, but given the regularity with which people who have abundantly clear post-viral conditions matching Long COVID and/or ME/CFS are simply gaslighted with "oh you're tired, depressed, fat, blah-blah-blah" until they quit seeking additional medical attention, studies like this are also going to be missing a sizable patient population.

FYI: You must have a long COVID diagnosis to participate in this trial! Meaning, you must have a doctor who knows about long COVID and is willing to diagnose you with it before ruling out every other alternate diagnosis known to man in the history of the world. No doctors that I know will.
