(yes i blocked it—it is on its own IOT LAN where nothing is allowed to reach out to the internet—you can see the rule hits in the screenshot. but it still continues to send requests despite the block)

It’s so fucking outrageous that this is where we are today. It’s why I still insist on using a separate device, though I’ve seen concerns that the TVs may still be able to do things with open networks nearby.

I hate how this is necessary to stop modern TV's from snooping and telling their manufacturer what you're doing with the TV you bought. I know there's other methods, but that the choices are "let it spy" or "find a way to stop it" is even a choice we have to make...

I caught my washing machine by running Wireshark with a ring buffer over the weekend, capture filter for the mac address of it and the dryer.

There's gotta be a way to blast useless garbage data to LGs and other manufacturers' spy network endpoints instead, if only out of sheer spite. They can have millions of packets full of FUCK YOUs from me. I would love that for them.
