𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗯 @meson.ninja · 16/08/2026if you aren't on the forefront of offense or defense, then it's all about time, exposure, and common use for almost every offensive security gadget to eventually become a product anyone in a given sector knows by name; its purpose, its capabilities 110

paulhosking.bsky.social @paulhosking.bsky.social · 16/08/2026The only difference between an ops wonk and a security wonk is motivation. Ops are paid / rewarded for putting widgets on the wire. Security is paid to find problems with those widgets and explain the risk they present to the business. The tools of the trade solve different motivations. 000
Siivosen Hannu @siivosenhannu.bsky.social · 17/08/2026NGL I was expecting to hear some Backstreet Boys I wasn't very disappointed though, no biggie really, I'm ok. 000

Larry @superhandle.bsky.social · 16/08/2026Those are hacking tools that come with instructions. Those are probably easier to use than configuring a switch to harden it for authn/authz and resist VLAN hopping. There are about a zillion subdomains for the "cyber" domain now. 000
Jeffrey Serio 🅅 @hyperreal.at.moonshadow.dev · 16/08/2026I would have guessed it was a pregnancy tester for network devices. They be gettin' it on. 140

c0ast3r 🎃 @c0ast3r.endrun.io · 16/08/2026crimes, they are for crimes, what crimes, probably a lot of them. 000
Name_Too_Long @nametoolong.bsky.social · 16/08/2026Lol at "I'm definitely gonna do it, obviously". There are people who work full time in security who don't know those exist. You've self-selected your way into an extremely-above-average crowd; while this is awesome, it does tend to warp perceptions of what "everybody knows". 020
Ravenholm Tech @ravenholmtech.bsky.social · 16/08/2026You've probably been focused on how to build your network defensively. (Port security, segmentation, 802.1X etc..) Is it beneficial to know how attacks work? Yes. Is it necessary to be successful at preventing attacks? Nope. Those new toys might teach you new tricks though. Happy hunting. 000
