It only got its modern definition in the 1900s. At that time, it was used to describe the cultural aspects of life born a specific sex, but this largely has no practical use 130

As far as science is concerned, there's only one. Ethnicities are endless, because it's a fluid complex non scientific concept. Same deal with biological sex and gender.
