Last night, you used the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll showing a 33% approval rating for Trump. You then claimed that you weren’t cherry picking and that all the polls were that low. That’s simply false. The R/I approval is the lowest of all recent polls on RCP and their avg of all polls is 39.6.

RCP combines methodology and includes polls that don’t meet our standards, which are very rigorous. I’m not sure the point you are trying to make. Trump is massively unpopular, as are his policies. And the trend, which all good polls demonstrate, is down

This is about not sacrificing the journalistic pursuit of accuracy to partisan cheerleading. As I said, politically, we should be clear-eyed about the path forward (away from MAGA). One question is why, after all Trump has done, is he even as popular as he is? That should scare us.

It’s because of RCP’s questionable polls that I put Trump’s approval lower at 38, which is where the NYTimes has it! Also, Emerson is highly respected and its last poll had it at 40. Clearly, your claim last night is patently false. Again, his approval has fallen but not as much as you claim.
