National Service was abolished half a decade before Nigel Farage was born. His generation only understand it through 1970s TV sitcoms.
@natacha.bsky.socialOnly men aged 84+ will have done military service (the average male life expectancy is 79) so very, very few over-65s would have experienced military service themselves, they seem happy for others to do it though.
The people who would actually suffer from conscription are overwhelmingly against it.
