Movies Silently @moviessilently.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I keep saying SNL UK is better than the original and I get that the show was always hit or miss but my issue with SNL for the past decade or so has been the preponderance of what can only be described as “audience of one” sketches. Like, they are very clearly gunning for Wanda from HR 7584
Aoḋán Ó Conġaile @tinydonkey.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I think the big problem is they can't end sketches properly. Key and Peele will either end on the biggest laugh, or a button that wraps up a sketch. SNL will get the biggest laugh and then go "yeah but we can make variations of this same gag like 8 more times before it's not funny anymore" 2153
Movies Silently @moviessilently.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Yes, definitely, the writing is flaccid even if the ideas are solid and I get they are writing around their guests but can we have just a little punchline? Or a surrealist tapering off? 1120
Aoḋán Ó Conġaile @tinydonkey.bsky.social · 02/10/2026And I understand they're writing on different timelines, but it is a style choice for them at this point, every single SNL sketch just sort of peters out or stops, even the good ones. 120
