Keep going.ottawacitizen.comCity backs down on lofty monthly bus fare increase for seniorsAfter outcry from seething seniors, city transit committee will meet again next week to lower fees proposed in last week's draft budget 812017
Phnee @ratherastory.bsky.social · 20/11/2024Yay! Next up, actually improving the transit system so those of us who desperately WANT to use it can, in fact, actually use it and have it be reliable. 020
Jeff Tindall @curlingjeff.bsky.social · 20/11/2024Great to hear, but makes me wonder about the relevance and consideration that public consultations have on the budget process. 000
Jim M @hockeyinottawa.bsky.social · 20/11/2024I know your voting record, so when Im in the budget consults yelling at councillors, please remember it's not directed at you🤣. Also, Mme. Amilcar was delightfully candid in last nights consult. Hope that continues. 000
Liam 🆒 @coolxliam.bsky.social · 21/11/2024This is a powerful group with the highest number of millionaires who have a lifetime of established connections to complain to. Who advocates for the average trying to decide what's best for themselves and now leans to the choice that costs the city the most instead (driving). 000
KGE hockey fan 🇨🇦🍁 @kbyrd.bsky.social · 20/11/2024Yes - seniors managed to get the city to blink. That's awesome, but what about youth and low income people and people with disabilities? We fight for better transit for everyone. 170
Judith Price @scousejude.bsky.social · 23/11/2024So the revised/proposed cost for a seniors bus pass is still looking prohibitive, are we supposed to be relieved for a 60% increase instead of the original 120% 🤬😡 000
Dan Harris @danharriscan.bsky.social · 20/11/2024That's great, but I'm guessing there won't be any movement for 10-12yr olds? 110
Toon Dreessen @toondreessen.bsky.social · 20/11/2024Cynical take: this was never a serious consideration and we’re being gaslit into thinking so, in order to feel like it’s a win when “recalled”media.tenor.coma cartoon of a man sitting in front of a computer with the words coincidence on the bottomALT: a cartoon of a man sitting in front of a computer with the words coincidence on the bottom 3210
