Canada does not have the number of military personnel or the sophisticated equipment needed to fend off a conventional American attack, they said. So, the military envisions unconventional warfare in which small groups of irregular military or armed civilians would resort to ambushes, sabotage, drone warfare or hit-and-run tactics.

This is a good time to point out that it was the Canadian Forces who trained Ukraine in insurgency fighting. We are small but mighty. Also good to point out that last year was our highest year of enlistments in decades. There was a WWII German officer who once said to he effect of:

It would be RIDICULOUSLY easy to train Canadian Forces to infiltrate the U.S. And even easier to find Americans to act with us in guerilla tactics. A little dialogue coaching, some fake background…

If the US tried anything against Canada every US interest around the world would be a target. They wouldn't have a chance of defending the vast majority of them. 🇬🇧🇨🇦

We didn't. We trained them in how to be able to integrate with "Euro-Atlantic standards" and how to plan and conduct operations, nothing at all about insurgency. We don't have any doctrine for that.
