Pavel @spavel.bsky.social · 26/02/2025It's the epitome of single-loop learning: try thing, see if it worked, try the same thing harder. The sort of thing a machine would do, ironically enough, except it's called a FOR loop and doesn't need AI to function. 1232
Pavel @spavel.bsky.social · 26/02/2025Single-loop processes are not able to ask "is the thing we are doing working" but perhaps more importantly, they cannot ask "is the thing we are working towards worthwhile?" In all 3 cases, the answer of AI boosters is the same: we are building AI so that we can have AI. 2486
Caravelle @caravellin.bsky.social · 30/05/2025Good summary of Michael Tomasello's "The Evolution of Agency"! I'd suggest a missing an analog to his 4th level except I suspect corporations as currently structured don't *have* that 4th level - they're set up to be purely self-interested, not cooperating parts of a larger problem-solving entity 120
Metaflame @metaflame.dev · 26/02/2025"AI techbros" will build an AGI that then tells them that they're stupid for building AGI, and they'll be all like "thank you for your infinite knowledge" and build a dozen new AGI models, each one insisting that this solves absolutely nothing 150
