Product teams under this sort of leadership tend to be extremely neurotic because they are stuck coming up with their own strategies and metrics, which have zero stakeholder buy-in and so ultimately do not matter. The only thing measured is number of widgets shipped. Design does not survive here.

You cannot have product-driven business impact without a hypothesis for customer *usage* behavior - what they are doing with your thing after they buy it. Without that understanding, you're essentially gambling that customers will figure out what your product can do for them and therefore come back

I really wish I could stop using AI as the example for every thread, but it truly does embody every single product design antipattern. Here, "we'll make a chatbot and you figure out what it's for" is the way all of this works, down to Nvidia cranking out chips and Microsoft building data centers.
