What about if the product itself is data, and the evaluation and transformation of it? We run into this at my company a lot, where our value is kind of abstract and hard to demonstrate without charts and graphs, currently delivered by slideshow but eventually that data is planned to go on a dashbrd

Bullshit. Jira Dashboards are good. We've got an in house app that has "dashboard" with at a glance statistics and I look at it a few times a day. Most of the enterprise software we write has at a glace reporting and trends on dashboards that proper users love.
