Joe Hardy @blokeonwheels.bsky.social · 03/12/2024Good afternoon you lovely lot! It seems that dispatches have tried doing a hit piece on disabled people. I don't know how many times I have to say this, but benefits are not easy to claim, people don't get given free cars, and disabled people aren't the reason the economy is fucked! 45699214
OldnPete @oldnpete.bsky.social · 03/12/2024Just watched this on catch up and tbh was appalled. Complete hatchet job time and again quoting figures of £1400 a month like that was what everyone got. Yes there is a cliff edge coming off benefits into work but this programme could have been so much better rather than a hate job. 021
Ian Dodd @noddy221.bsky.social · 04/12/2024Hi Joe it’s not just disabled. We live in Spain and have just had a letter from the DWP asking us to prove we are alive to keep receiving our pension. 000
Fiery @firehorsep.bsky.social · 03/12/2024I couldn't watch it. I just knew it would be crap and my BP wouldn't cope. 030
The Queen of Wheeze @bex-wheezequeen.bsky.social · 03/12/2024I have had to defend myself so many times in the past few years. Had people calling me a scrounger or a liar - saying I fake my symptoms & I'm a drain on the state That I cause my family stress and upset when I "fake" symptoms. Has made me feel really worthless at times xx 030
Liz Nicolson @lizandeen.bsky.social · 03/12/2024Last year the b*stards demanded I come in for a benefits review. I was in a sodding coma. So glad one of my sisters and my advocate ripped them to shreds. 0242
roblouis1.bsky.social @roblouis1.bsky.social · 03/12/2024I couldn't believe that awful "stitch up" last night by C4. shame on whoever devised it. Fraser Nelson? A host of people from right wing think tanks? They would spout this guff wouldn't they? 010
Celtic Republic of Scotland 🇮🇪🏴🇵🇸 @averagesoe.bsky.social · 04/12/2024There’s one family in London on that gets £135m a year in benefits and then scams charities while the head of the family is worth £750m and has an annual salary of £25m 020
Tracey Briggs @traceybriggs1.bsky.social · 03/12/2024Indeed but the narrative keeps being pushed 😡 020
Alex Vijatov @alexvv.bsky.social · 03/12/2024Funny how many think it is immigrants and benefits that are the issue, rather than an unfair tax system and a previous govt who delighted in spending £740m on on a demonstration of performative cruelty. 0183
Chuddmeister @chuddmeister.bsky.social · 03/12/2024We have to jump through hoops just to get the pittance to live on. 010
sedleybryden @sedleyb.bsky.social · 03/12/2024Experts by experience helping other disabled people....shock, horror. Not like the old boy network of etonians and wealthy giving a leg up to chums. Inside info only good for the prols not the plebs. 000
Ruthie @bigwilliedixon.bsky.social · 03/12/2024My partner and I (both retired) have disabilities - the claim forms were horrendous, and neither of us is stupid! I know of people who just gave up on the applications, it's obviously a deliberate ploy. Free car my arse! These ridiculous stories do so much damage. Just keep repeating the truth Joe. 010
Rob Sherry 🇪🇺🇬🇧🇳🇱 @robsherry.co.uk · 03/12/2024They can do one. No one wants to be on benefits (except a small minority). Those people who genuinely need the help should be afforded every help available….yes even if that means a car 060
Peter @eelp.bsky.social · 03/12/2024And yet there are lots of people out there who believe that taking money off of disabled folks will miraculously cure them and make them walk🤬 020
Hels Babs @hels8.bsky.social · 03/12/2024I was going to watch it because I'm a benefits adviser so was intrigued as to how it would be framed/what really life stories there would be. But will it just make me mad?! 😁 (I agree completely with your statement) 000
GemRemonanerUntilIDie @gemremoaner.bsky.social · 04/12/2024It’s just ridiculous Joe, the bias is incredible. #disabilityrights 000
sjsblenkathra @sjsblenkathra.bsky.social · 03/12/2024When I saw who was presenting it, I guessed which way the wind was blowing. 000
Patrina Finch @siegeperilous.bsky.social · 03/12/2024..also, there's no lexicon of magic words😡The truth about the reams of form-filling for disabled ppl is the questions ask 'can you do xyz'? Once you've normalised for example washing, dressing etc, of course you say 'I can do xyz'. But you need to think HOW you do it vs if you weren't disabled. 041
Murmuration @murmeration.bsky.social · 03/12/2024Less than half of disabled people claim benefits they're entitled to www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwal...cornwalllive.comLess than half of disabled people claim benefits they're entitled toTake a look at our interactive map to see how Cornwall compares with the rest of the UK 010
AlanPW @penheiro53.bsky.social · 03/12/2024Was this the one that featured Grimsby. If so Fraser Nelson was on look north saying there were jobs paying £36k that people didn't want to do and trainee roles at £26k. Most work there is zero hours with minimum pay. 000
Sarah Massey @sarahjanemassey1.bsky.social · 03/12/2024I second this. I worked for DWP for 34 years, the last 10 on Disability benefits. It's definitely a nightmare to claim, especially after 14 years of tory. I spend most of my retirement helping people to claim. 2385
KeithBrindle @keithbrindle.bsky.social · 03/12/2024It's always easier to attack the people at the bottom rather than going after the rich criminals at the top. 020
Gordon @gb4g.bsky.social · 03/12/2024The media keep looking for scapegoats which is disappointing 010
Sue Stokes @suestokes.bsky.social · 03/12/2024How true, it makes me so angry. Also when people go on about people faking mental health issues, I am sure there are far more people who's mental health prevent them from claiming. Why can't we just have a fair society? 091
🪻🪽ChristyForEveryVoiceMatters🐘🦋🌈🇺🇸🇺🇦 @christy47.bsky.social · 05/12/2024I know all of that is true! 000
Jo @my3specialgirls.bsky.social · 03/12/2024👏🏻👏🏻YES 🙌🏻I say this constantly AND those with life long disability should be recognised. That would save the system a few quid , the repetition of information I have to give is cumbersome to the system as well as stressful for the claimants & carers. I’m CONSTANTLY repeating info for my girls.🤬 020
Justine @justineh0213.bsky.social · 03/12/2024There was some posh pillock, Fraser something on our Local News #LookNorth going on about it being too easy to claim benefits, very disappointed in LookNorth and Peter Levy for following this right-wing talking point 050
Lady Charlie Says @ladycharliesays.bsky.social · 03/12/2024I was unaware they were doing this till I read on here. Still I don't think I'll watch, it sounds like it's only going to make me angry. 010
@Comradess Nan @socialistnan123.bsky.social · 03/12/2024It’s not a coincidence this programme has been aired now, as cuts to benefits imminent. The Government & the media working together telling people what to think. 2141
Rebecca @reblou.bsky.social · 03/12/2024It's difficult to even get help buying a mobility scooter, let alone a car. 020
Christine N HfE (no DMs) @christinevn-hfe.bsky.social · 03/12/2024No declaration of massive conflict of interest by the programme makers! Not watching right wing propaganda . What was Channel 4 doing churning out Beeb Tory lies. 000
Erin Kidd @thebabygoat.bsky.social · 03/12/2024If disabled people are given so much free shit and benefits, there wouldn’t be homeless people in wheelchairs everywhere. It’s almost as if lack of resources for disability CAUSES homelessness 👀 0111
Jane 🇬🇧 🇵🇸 @alterbridge.bsky.social · 03/12/2024It's disgusting & beyond belief. We need to fight back on this misinformation. 020
David @thefatfryer.bsky.social · 03/12/2024Let all of the doubters sit through a PIP interview. Then they might get a better understanding of the traps and pitfalls that any disabled person has to go through… 040
Leftistbooks.com @jonblakeauthor.bsky.social · 03/12/2024My son has CP and what irks me the most is that despite his condition being incurable he has to be regularly assessed to check he is still disabled. What kind of system necessitates that? 080
