In Dark Sun, it’s a cultural norm with a (spoiler) horrid, secret reason for keeping it. It can be an evil you fight, but presenting it as a cultural norm, baking it into some mechanics, implies it’s acceptable. 120

But 4e didn’t do enough to change the underlying problem of normalized slavery in Athas and slavery as part of player character elements (ancestry, background, etc.). 120
