I've also walked from downtown to Dormont a couple times, and the idea is not without merit. This is an area whose sidewalks have not been surveyed much. If I got an early enough start, I could survey a lot of the path from the Smithfield Street Bridge to the Dormont line. 2/

But I also have a lot of reading to do, so would prefer not to pilot any vehicle for any amount of time. Simply walking to the bus and sitting on transit and/or waiting for transit is itself a positive draw. Picking up dinner along the way, while still reading, feeds into the equation. 3/

Total outlier but given the above, not out of the question: Walk the entire 15 miles from McCandless to Dormont. Read while walking (where safe to) until I get to the city line, survey sidewalks until I again get to the Dormont line, then continue reading. Crazy, sure, and it will take all day. 4/
