Americans should understand that Trump has forward deployed a substantial fraction of US land-based aircraft out in the open within missile range of Iran. This is a war of choice that could wipe out combat power the US might wish it had husbanded for other scenarios. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/20/u...

Any danger of defence pundits pointing out that this would be a grossly illegal war of aggression?

You seem to imply, that Trump wants to preserve a strong US military. If so, please consider this might be wrong. In the end Putin, whose wishes Trump is always following, is not interested in a strong US. Since his inauguration Trump did everything to make US weak and isolated.

And you know that they’ve given zero thought to what happens after the bombs are dropped.

Hmmmm. A strike on that lot and a lucky strike by the IRGC on the USN in the Gulf and this could be the escapade where it all goes south for Trump......and the US.

On the verge of a major conflict, with potential to lose American lives and high-end weapon systems, and not only does the average American have no idea what the objectives of such a conflict are supposed to be, the Secretary of Defense is posting weightlifting pics. It’s surreal.

Let’s hope that it DOES wipe out a lot of combat power which the Shite House Paedo Palace dictator could otherwise use to attack DK, CA, MX (the list goes on).

This could end up making Pearl Harbor look like a little Japanese naval exercise.

How likely is this merely a gov't leader and defense dept leader who don't mind spending other people's money in furtherance of creating leverage and diplomacy at the point of a gun? Normal people wouldn't do such a thing because it's such a cost just for a bluff. But these aren't normal people.

Hate to say it. It will take some military deaths to get tiny king some real heat. Disgusting that this little man is using our military for colonial-style attack. Obama had negotiated a good treaty and tiny tore it up during 45, so that he could be the “hero”.

What better way of unintentionally/intentionally weakening a global power, to further the interests of another? Not a one off but merely his latest act of treachery.
