GenAI use for coding has been mis-sold to gullible execs and the like as some way to speed up teams and remove the need to have as many people. But the amount of additional overhead in PR reviews and bug fixes/rewrite just seem to make any "savings" irrelevant. (plus genAI sucks balls, so...)

Yeah, it does add a lot of overhead. It's not a panacea. I don't have such a visceral reaction about AI for coding as I do for media. I think some assistance makes sense - there's so many frameworks/practices, it's hard to keep up. And fixing problems/refactoring can sometimes be complex/annoying.

Sadly I've seen first hand where it can very quickly diminish the skills of the professionals using it :( and the fact it's all built on data/code repositories that, like media genAI, didn't really consent to being ripped off and copy-pasta'd into somewhere that had no right to the code >.>;
