Things that are simultaneously true: Antisemitism exists in U.K. & must end Maccabi fanbase incl a hardcore racist hooligan faction U.K. policing has been substantially under-resourced for years PMs & Home Secs should stay out of operational decisions made by police forces

Precisely that. Is there a way to ensure that the government can't overule the ban?

Westminster politicians turned the ban on the Maccabi thugs into an antisemitism argument. Everybody else saw it for what it was and that was to avoid violence from football/racist hooligans.

Unless the club only allows Israeli Jewish people to be fans, then it cannot be Anti-Semitic or Anti-Israeli to band the fans for security reasons There is Antisemitism in the UK, but Israel equating everything with Antisemitism, and sounding ridiculous makes people think it is not a problem

Keir Starmer fully supports Israeli football hooligans coming to the UK and will bow to their demands.... because it's Israel

Racism 'must end' - yes. But race begins with imperialism & its acts of domination - slavery, underdevelopment, unfair terms of trade, genocide, settler colonialism, etc. Ending racism means the eradication of imperialism, along with the capitalism that has always grown from it.

Indeed. Can't believe Starmer chose to gob off on this. The rozzers must be getting pretty dischuffed. Cooper's weekly Nanhunt, now this.

Also true: authorities frequently do not intervene in the cases of other extreme fan behaviour. Go figure as they say.

It's almost as if politicians have forgotten the absolute chaos caused by Israeli football fans last year in Amsterdam.

💯. Only have to look at their vile behaviour in Amsterdam!

I'm hoping a warm invitation is extended to them, that they get a good kicking and that police chiefs spend the next day pointing and laughing at useless politicians.

So is this ban an example of antisemitism? Because if it is, then yes you are right it exists and it’s a problem. The term has been swung around for a lot of things, so as to be diminished, and that just leaves the anecdotal personal account of individuals with zero evidence to back their claim….

Hardeep Matharu@hardeepmatharu.bsky.social

Given how much the China spy case has dominated headlines, it really does beg the question: why is our political-media class so uninterested in Nathan Gill, his Russian bribes, his once close associate Nigel Farage, and Reform UK? Our new Byline Times edition investigates what the media won't 👇
