Deanna Winters is Querying @deannaunwritten.bsky.social · 17/03/2025Any advice on balancing cross genre books while still meeting reader expectations? For example, something that is fantasy, horror, and romance or similar? 210
anawriteroffantasy.bsky.social @anawriteroffantasy.bsky.social · 17/03/2025Can I combine the omniscient pov with moments that are closer to a character(as in the limited 3rd pov)? Also, is it bad to open the book with the mc coming back home after a long time describind a bit of his kingdom and relevant politics(without infodumping it all at once, but rather sprinkling it? 220
Rilla Jaggia @rillajaggia.bsky.social · 17/03/2025Just one more! I've had an equal number of readers, professional and critique, want the beginning to jump directly into major action versus something slower where the reader discovers more about the character and what makes her tick before jumping into more. What is your take? 120
Rilla Jaggia @rillajaggia.bsky.social · 17/03/2025Since you mention the importance of word count, do you have upper limits in mind, such as for YA fantasy? 120
Rilla Jaggia @rillajaggia.bsky.social · 17/03/2025Hi! Thanks for offering your time and expertise to this incredible opportunity for writers. Q: I was wondering what the first readers' job is? 160
JT 🐸 @wafflesandwriting.bsky.social · 18/03/2025Hello Hannah! How do you feel about unbalanced povs? My story has three main characters, but there are comparatively shorter chapters of the side characters to give them depth and more context to the overall story. I wanted to give them identities that aren’t dependent of the main cast 110
Jenna Redd @authorjennaredd.bsky.social · 17/03/2025Any tips for keeping a red herring from feeling like a loose end? I’m worried about disappointing the reader with a road that leads to nowhere. 🤦♀️ 130
Hannah Kate Kelley @kelleyeditorial.bsky.social · 17/03/2025And for anyone who's curious, here's my breakdown from all your submissions: (P.S. I'm thrilled with how many of you submitted to me and I can't wait to look through your submissions soon.) 1322

J.G. Moore @writinglife2010.bsky.social · 17/03/2025I had one Beta reader give in-line notes on my Word doc, and one gave me a separate document with all her notes. Do you have a preference in your RevPit editing? 110
J.G. Moore @writinglife2010.bsky.social · 17/03/2025Hi, Hannah, just checking: are you from the "brutal honesty" school, or the "how can I hang an air freshener on this" school? 😂😭 140
CA (is querying) @chinadennington.bsky.social · 17/03/2025I'm not sure how to age my characters. I currently have them set at 18/19 and the genre as YA (because that makes the most sense since it's shorter fantasy) but I would like to actually have them in their early 20s. What would you suggest? 120
Sophie Pinkoski @sophiemlpink.bsky.social · 17/03/2025What’s the best way to manage flashbacks these days? A lot of my narrative makes use of characters telling stories about their past to express relevant backstory, but does that structure moving back and forth between past and present work for the modern market? 130
m 🌸 @maggiesbooks.bsky.social · 17/03/2025Hi Hannah! I have a lot of characters in my story and not all of them contribute to the plot. However, I do want to keep them around and give them their own stories later on, maybe create a universe. What’s the best way to go about this situation? 130
Sarah Gallego Author HOTWQ @sarahgwrites75.bsky.social · 17/03/2025Hi Hannah...I just worked with a brilliant Beta reader who has some amazing advice. I'm worried it's going to push my word count up too high to be marketable but can't think of anything to take out. Should I just write the story and not worry about word count? 120
Q’Zion T. Gipson has a ✨ BOOK DEAL!✨ @qziontgipson.bsky.social · 17/03/2025Thank you for the opportunity! While I know this question is very subjective, what elements—regardless of genre—make a good, memorable story, for you? 120
Sarah Sappanos @sarasafaas.bsky.social · 17/03/2025Hello Hannah! Any common pitfalls you see new/unpublished writers fall into? (Like opening with info dumping, not in media res, etc) love to add to my avoid list! 150
The PLOT DOC, MD🩺📝✍️ @theplotdoc.bsky.social · 17/03/2025Hey Hannah. Thanks for volunteering. Word count question: SF narrative of a planned 250k words. The story can naturally be adjusted based on arc into either a duology around 125k each (too long) or trilogy around 80-85k each (too short). Naively-assuming it’s otherwise complete, which is preferred? 120
