Sony acquired Bluepoint in 2021, and killed it before Bluepoint could release A SINGLE GAME as a first-party studio. Unless I'm mistaken, this has never happened before. Even the unluckiest studios released a game before being gutted. We're reaching record levels of skittish corporate incompetence.

Modern gaming sucks. Idk even know how a major AAA Studio can turn a profit anymore, even Insomniac Games, with the backing of a major Marvel IP, and one of Playstation's most successful games in terms of sales couldn't release Spider-Man 2 without layoffs shortly after.

It has happened, but I don't think with such a major studio before. Mostly smaller or even new studios. It never gets better.
