I understand this makes me a bitch but I truly have no sympathy for this notion that "HP fans who don't support Rowling need their own space to reclaim the books." Why are we so much quicker to appease this coddling than the people who Rowling's legislative fury is destroying? Read another book.

As a queer Scot who has watched Rowling decimate trans safety and rights in my own country, I personally find it deeply offensive to see people claim that they need to keep HP relevant because some queer people still want to read fanfic and buy Etsy stickers.

As I grew older, I started reading other series and watching other movies. I can’t recall the last time I thought deeply about the franchise, I have no issues burying it. Even if Rowling wasnt a terf any softreboot is going to be shit

as an autistic black bisexual man who has actual moments of childishness and an attachment to "highly immature adult" types of characters who is seconding this thread (and not directing this towards OP): Grow the fuck up, the lot of you.

This whole thing is a true shambles, and it was 100% avoidable. I'm not sure the Mischief Management team even understands why people were so insulted by the "but the HP fans are queer/trans" defence. bsky.app/profile/fang...

Quick update. Over 120 authors have dropped out of #RomanceCon. More authors are dropping out of Enchanticon. RomanceCon sent another email doubling down. As attendees are now joining authors in decided to not attend, allegedly the official RC page is hiding comments asking about ticket refunds.

And notice how whenever a fic gets successfully serial number filed, it's a m/f ship

My kids and I absolutely LOVED the Harry Potter books and films - but the whole series and ANYTHING related are completely dead to us all now - no separation of author and work possible for us, it's all tainted with hate. It's really not that difficult to choose to do the right thing here!

I don't understand what's so hard about giving the series or its fanfic up. It was very easy for me. The time I used to spend reading HP fanfic has been spent exploring other media and diving into their fandoms instead.

If I or anyone make something you love and they turn out to be a monster Discard them and their work, you do not have to acquiesce to the slow march of history They can exist as an oddity, curio, a vestigial bigot waiting to rot and fall off the body of our collective consciousness like a wart
