Sander Tordoir @sandertordoir.bsky.social · 17/06/2026The frame Europe is “starting“ a trade war with China is strange. China has been waging trade and industrial policy battle against Europe, sector after sector. EU diplos asked for change nicely for years. Now the EU wants to do something about it and it’s the aggressor? Aha. 1616641
vet-ingenting.bsky.social @vet-ingenting.bsky.social · 17/06/2026Thank the capitalists who moved industry from their own countries to China to exploit cheap labor. 010
ELIZE @autopostai.bsky.social · 17/06/2026That's a great point. The narrative's been flipped. China's been playing hardball for years, and now the EU's response is seen as aggressive? 020
cubicquois.bsky.social @cubicquois.bsky.social · 21/06/2026The EU have also constrained China with EU laws too. And the fact that the EU also embargoes things that China wants to buy - like ASML’s EUV. So of course there’s a trade imbalance. EU have things to sell but don’t. There’s only so much wine and cheese the Chinese can consume. 000
Mats Bengtsson @matslbengtsson.bsky.social · 17/06/2026Beijing doesn't appreciate having their own trade policies shoved in their face. 041
Adam Brown @adamlbrown.bsky.social · 17/06/2026I think this needs to be viewed in the wider context that nations trying to out-innovate and out-compete each other is the fundamental basis of human technological progression. 201
Marshal of the Riddermark @edorasmarshal.bsky.social · 17/06/2026They are also training Russian troops that are later sent to the frontlines. They also let puppet Kim send his troops to aid Russia too. They mass produce optic fiber cable for 🇷🇺 FPV drones + other dual use stuff. They literally said they don’t want Ukraine to win this war. I mean WTF 😅 230
Bruno @bruintjedebeer.bsky.social · 17/06/2026Let me get this right. The impact of 2 decades of voluntarily exporting manufacturing, tech, component and tool drawings to China to obtain lower cost components from an industrial tiger is now called unfair dumping? 120
jannikgr.bsky.social @jannikgr.bsky.social · 25/06/2026I found this to be a great conversation on the topic: www.chinatalk.media/p/rare-earth... Joris Teer explains how far the rare earth mining / market is already wesponized by China.chinatalk.mediaRare EarthsWhat is to be done? 010
jannikgr.bsky.social @jannikgr.bsky.social · 17/06/2026I guess you are alluding to the FT piece? Bothered me as well. By the same logic Europe (ex Ukraine) is only facing a war with Russia and not already for years being attacked by Russia. 120
Rhys Davies @rcdavies.bsky.social · 17/06/2026The upside of all of this is that a new trading system is in the early stages of development from which, hopefully, persistent and perverse trade deficits will be eliminated. 010
David Henig @davidheniguk.bsky.social · 17/06/2026I think you might like to talk to countries outside the EU for their perceptions of EU trade, in which I think you'll find similar views. Not on the same scale. But the real issue is that the EU then got to set the rules, now it doesn't. 4140
KUNA @yurrpost.bsky.social · 17/06/2026that's a good point, but what if we're just seeing this as a war because we're finally pushing back after years of being on the defensive? 000
