What was surprising was how few people managed to retain their digital files overtime. I did not expect to get overjoyed responses that I still retained a backup 2192 19
Semi-feral Post Monger @dwaynefuhlhage.bsky.social · 28/06/2026I have attempted backup redundancy and it was subscription Lightroom that managed to spin up my 10 yo RAID and corrupt the file structure. I still need to pay a recovery service. In the meantime, I pay Google and Apple so that what remains is safe. The SSD shortage is not helping local backup at all 000 0
Aaron Rodericks @aaron.bsky.team · 28/06/2026I just assumed that people would store important and expensive photos for years - but turns out that after the big day is done. Unless they go and print or have an album made - life happens, computers die, people move, and they lose these important memories and mementos. 1210 21
