I wanted to become a writer so I could "live out" many different kinds of lives. That was the whole point.
But to do it for a living I had to learn a bunch of shit outside of character. Structure, plot, pacing, tone, voice. How to pitch. How to take notes. Etc.
Guess that’s why they call it a job.
