Ash Oro @ashoro.co.uk · 22/09/202620/23 Me - I won't dismiss the maritime seriousness of deliberately damaging an inflatable during a rescue operation. Inflatables depend upon compartment integrity and buoyancy. Puncturing one while somebody is aboard potentially creates another person entering the water. 11755
Ash Oro @ashoro.co.uk · 22/09/202621/23 There is an uncomfortable precedent here. If one group concludes it can physically intervene at sea because it believes the state is not enforcing policy strongly enough, another group can make exactly the same argument about another cause tomorrow. Maritime law can't function like that. 823527
Aural Sturgeon @aural-sturgeon.bsky.social · 23/09/2026This is an amazing thread. I don't think I've ever seen so many receipts. Thank you. This particular point casts the various Sea Shepherd incidents in an interesting light. www.abc.net.au/news/2010-01... Ash Oro @ashoro.co.uk · 22/09/202622/23 The sea is already an unforgiving environment. We created safeguards precisely because it kills people. Political protest ashore is one thing. Entering an active rescue operation and physically interfering with vessels is something very different. 223729

John ‘the importance of ideas & information’ 🦋 @wjpme.bsky.social · 23/09/2026An excellent thread. Thank you. Having visited Ynys Enlli on a small boat recently I am under no illusion as to how dangerous the sea can be. It’s only a couple of miles off the mainland; crossings are frequently cancelled. 0190
