The vet (Lap of Love is a wonderful org) gave him pain meds first. We held him as he was 100% pain free for the first time in a long time. Then he went to sleep in our arms. He breathed a deep, relaxing breath and as he passed he opened his one good eye and winked.
Then he was gone.
