BrightDrop electric delivery vans should've been a Canadian success story. Instead, after $500M in federal investments, GM abandoned the 1000+ @unifor.org Local 88 workers at the plant. I was in Ingersoll recently hearing about how we can save these good, union jobs and Canada's EV future.

This is where liberal govts fail with industrial policy. Laissez faire capitalism will not save us. There was a time where the govt simply did these things where capital refused. Electric busses are undeniably a good in CA, the public should be seizing control of this.

Canada needs to get serious about vehicle, not just parts production. Chinas the obvious way to do it, it’s time for carney to focus on affordable EVs, not just Canola, and maybe look to Europe’s model as most Asian carmakers are rapidly expanding European manufacturing & what better BEV adoption.

Look at the business case for these trucks, the costs, & the lack of fed/prov rebates for them. GM has a habit of building things that have way too much overhead, yet must maintain that profit margin & pay for the top staff, at the cost of everyone below them.
