Trained largely at USGS Flagstaff! And only after advocacy by Gene Shoemaker to include dedicated science investigation. I visited the USGS archives a few years ago and held Shoemaker's personal copy of the proposal in my hands. Here's a mock stereo camera that they used. (It's made of wood!)
