Matmos is amazing and inspiring, but I bet our concept is simpler.
Ours was inspired by my affection for 1960s LCR stereo jazz records, Beatles records, etc.
Where they would compartmentalize a sound (drums only in the left speaker, etc.) and the magic of the song still comes through.

We had a little mini festival in Baltimore a few years back, spread out between venues, in which the theme was multi channel audio. The Matmos guys spearheaded it...what I saw/heard was amazing
