The Substance (2024) Dir- Coralie Fargeat Demi Moore does hagsploition. Audacious female-gaze body horror. Distilling meaning down to fairy-tale essentialism. Like any nu-80s inspired fairy-tale, this is big, rich, textured, ridiculous, bleak, funny, careening and outre.

One of my faves this year for sure. Great style, some Kubrick inspired shots. Kinds of Kindness is on my top list this year too.

Kinds of Kindness is on my list to see. Haven't gotten around to it yet, but I love me some Lanthimos, especially if it's more like his older stuff, Dogtooth, etc. Someone described this movie as grind house Kubrick, which I thought was funny.
