🔵 STURT (SA) The last seat for today is the complex contest of Sturt, located in Adelaide's east. James Stevens' holds the seat by just 0.5% for the Liberals after a 6% swing away from them in 2022, despite a fairly low quality candidate from Labor last election. 22/26 🧵

This time, Labor has made a concerted effort to gain the seat, choosing local councillor Claire Cutterham as their candidate. The aforementioned popular Labor state government, and generally strong ground campaign is likely to deliver the seat to Labor. 23/26 🧵

But the Greens have also made a big effort to win the seat, with Adam Bandt naming Sturt as one of the Greens' main target seats this election, having been encouraged by a strong result in the Dunstan state by-election, within the electorate. 24/26 🧵

Sonja Baram was an awesome candidate and a councillor like Claire. What Claire has over Sonja is a seemingly bottomless war chest (and a 100% commitment to AUKUS). After 30 years of running booths for Labor they didn't need me in Sturt. And the quantity of internet/streaming ads is EXTRODINARY.
