québec politics never fail to remind me how some of the people I respect are kool-aid drinkers at the end of the day QS, the only left-of-center party left, is usually left out of the WASP discourse because it runs against the notion that separatism is this inherently right-wing movement

the Canadian confederation should be this inviolable, sacrosanct thing despite its ongoing mistreatment of immigrants and first nations, whereas an independent Québec is rejected on the possibility (... I admit it, likelihood) that it may be the same

the hypocrisy here is easy to explain. the WASPs want to have their cake and eat it too. their cultural and language hegemony does not need to be explained. their erasure of other peoples is just part of the process. opposing it is reactionary.
