ERUPTING EARTH / EXPLODING SKY 🌈 a gouache piece from residency, 2023

an illustration painted in gouache, playing with vibrant colours. tall towers of clouds across the lower half, a dark blue sky giving way to light from the top to the bottom. bisecting the image is a warped and liquid rainbow. in the centre is a strange shooting star with multiple tails, rocketing over a flat black square. the bust of one figure is in the upper left, looking down and away, and he's coloured in a wash of blue. in the lower right is another figure reaching up toward him or the star, longing and young, their dark black-purple hair sweeping and swirling around them.
