people venerate the dead unsung artist/auteur the way they venerate dead revolutionaries, with vicious contempt for the living. alive they tell you all your problems are of your own making and your failure to advance your position is indicative of a fundamental immaturity of self/craft/politics

when you're an artist it's your fault for not getting work, it's your fault for working too much, and it's your fault for needing to work. the dead are more precious than the living because in death their demands are silenced (or at least are easier to ignore) anyway. really makes u think... maybe!

not implying art/artists are innately revolutionary (in purpose, position, action, etc) but that class consciousness is necessary for our survival. we should learn from the people who were— ARE— torn apart and put down for trying to achieve the gains from which we, like everyone, would benefit
