tbh i'm so fucking tired of the anti-AI focus on art, the Product, and not the horrific human/environmental cost of the process. not that AI proponents care, but they sure as shit don't care about Making Art. they reject the health and safety of the world at large. it's fascism and they like it.

It’s exhausting to me too because of all the damaging use cases of AI, art doesn’t rank nearly as high as say, people using it to substitute critical thought, code malware, or “jailbreak” it to get sensitive information. Its such a huge issue and the focus on art seems myopic at best.

yeah.. i've had to talk to so many people at work and in my field about why ai is awful and i try to stick to the human and environmental harms, but i then run into the infuriating "but what if they make it ecologically friendly/i only use my own work to train a model" response, and im like. no.

don't get me wrong! they're sopping with cowardice and have to nurse a fraught, self-reinforcing delusion that they're levelling a playing field they're too scared to set foot on. but: they also plain don't give a shit and just want to take the shortest path to wealth & status.

plus so many of the arguments fall apart once you Do start relying on ableist justifications again centering the product, not the consequence. those are easily turned back onto you, and i watch everyone leap to weird meritocratic logic ("ok well look at THIS disabled person, THEY can do it!")

Omg totally. I love pirating media (in Minecraft), I don't think human art contains some kind of immutable magic, and i hate the AI slop sooo much! It's wasting water, traumatizing the people who have to check it for csem, it's being shoved at our wallets all day-- it's like visual plastic waste

I honestly have so many problems with the different ways people criticize AI now unfortunately including all this. A lot of very individualist critique and not enough critique about what it’s doing to both our planet and our society, which are both much more damning than “they stole my art 😡”.
