I still have an original edition. It lives on my shelf with rubber bands around it to keep the pieces together. I found it in a gas station kiosk in Winnemucca, NV on a Girl Scout trip from Wyoming to San Francisco. I read it while we drove and passed it to the other girls. We read it to each other.

I bought my copy at Vons in W Lafayette before the movie opened. (I bought a lot of books at Vons.) I bought it mainly for this line in the prologue: "They were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Naturally they became heroes."

Thank you for sharing the URL for the YouTube video of this. I missed this when my local PBS station aired it and have been looking for an archived recording all over. Judy-Lynn is responsible for publication of about 2/3 of my book collection. Ballentine and DelRey titles dominate it.

I've read that George Lucas insisted on giving Alan Dean Foster a royalty for that novelization, even though that wasn't a standard thing for novelizations at the time. Foster wound up being able to buy a house in LA out of that.
