I recommend Kropotkin, along with Lewontin and Levins so often to my students. The Dialectical Biologist is a great antidote to The Selfish Gene, and Lewontin’s Biology as Ideology should also be required reading.
@kendrawrites.comWe'd all be better off if in addition to Darwin we were also taught Kropotkin. Darwin talked a lot about evolutionary pressures selecting for certain traits. Kropokin talked about how animals acting cooperatively allowed for survival.
