A side-note to the judicial and political craziness I've been discussing: People on this platform have been telling me "you shouldn't say 'two-tier justice/policing' as that reinforces far-right messaging." A fundamental principle is that we *never* cede ground to the far right. If they steal our terms and concepts - which they do all the time - we seize them back and explain the reality behind them. In fact we can leverage their misuse of our terms, to refocus attention on what they really mean.

A fundamental point of sanity is that you never cede ground to extremists of any political stripe. You listen to complaints about bad personal experiences and seek win-win solutions instead of believing you already know it all and have no need to pay attention to any contrary evidence

And in this case the reality could not be starker: Black and Brown people, women, LGBTQ people and leftwing protesters continue to suffer discrimination by the police and justice system. The last people who will ever find themselves on the wrong side of two-tier justice are rightwing white men.
