In doing so, he's handing this country on a plate to Reform UK. Of course the 2029 election is not a done deal, and we can still prevent disaster from happening. But to do so, we now not only have to fight Farage, but also Starmer and the toxic legacy he leaves (and please God, he will now leave).

He has further enraged his former voters with his morally supine response to the genocide in Gaza, even more restrictions on protest rights, his grovelling to corporate lobbyists, attacks on disability benefits, continued austerity and ripping down of environmental protections. I could go on.

Starmer's prevarication & obstinacy about Gaza are particularly frustrating & disgusting. I'm glad to live in Scotland where I don't have to vote for centre-right Labour, although I worry about the curate's egg of SNP becoming more right wing.

Of course your list isn't complete but it's weird that you don't give any mention to Starmer's genocide of trans people, which is well underway with the withdrawal of healthcare and imposition of conversion therapy on trans children.

Everything you’ve said is 100% correct. I’m most angry at the lack of conviction. The squandering of a mandate Labour will ever see again. Paving the way for disgruntled voters to believe the lies of Reform. A Reform government in 🇬🇧 would be an unmitigated disaster for its people and its environment

Starmer is reflecting the general shift of the UK voter to the right. Socialist policies have not been part of a Labour government since the 70's. Same here in Australia. Our Labor party makes a fine centre right government.

Not happy then, George? What happens next? Reform councils fail to deliver because their budgets are constrained by Westminster. Farage goes into the next GE on a ticket that only a Reform government can fix this by getting a national majority which they will get. I'll turn off the lights.

We voted out the Tories, only to find that, after a long 14 years of waiting, a Labour government adopts and extends some of their worst policies, while entirely failing to excite or inspire. Now Labour and its supporters on this platform blame us for turning away. What aren’t they seeing here?
