George Monbiot @georgemonbiot.bsky.social · 16/07/2025Capital demands that: 1. The government must strip away sensible rules which prevent businesses from attacking the public good. 2. The government must constrain *itself* with insanely restrictive pledges, such as Rachel Reeves's fiscal rules. 3. Protesters challenging capital must be locked up. 9475111
George Monbiot @georgemonbiot.bsky.social · 16/07/2025This is economic warfare by the rich against the rest. The point and purpose of the Labour Party was to resist such attacks. Starmer and Reeves have turned their party into the opposite of what it once was. 1134165

Simon Zerafa @simonzerafa.infosec.exchange.ap.brid.gy · 17/07/2025@georgemonbiot.bsky.social They aren't known as Red Tories for nothing 🫤🤦♂️ I'm old enough to remember when the Labour leadership were socialist. 030
Jockyfox @jockyfox.bsky.social · 16/07/2025Yep 👍🏼 Effectively encourage the not so well off to take a financial risk with an investment Let bankers and the like have fun and get rich with our money When it crashes they stay rich we lose our cash Bonkers 🤪 @martinlewis.moneysavingexpert.com @paullewismoney.bsky.social 070
🇬🇧Trump dead yet? 🇺🇦🇵🇸 🇬🇱 @anton-decque.bsky.social · 16/07/2025Hence the public perception of the uniparty (exacerbated under Maggie's spiritual heir Tony Bliar) where the only genuine difference between them is the colour of the rosette at election time. A favourite of mine: "it doesn't matter who you vote for, the government always gets in". 150
firstprinciples.bsky.social @firstprinciples.bsky.social · 16/07/2025Sadly, it looks like Starmer's Labour is the same as Blair's – electable tories 000
josefkaf.bsky.social @josefkaf.bsky.social · 16/07/2025Political parties buy their way into government. The voting public is peripheral bc money buys influence and votes. That’s the game and that’s how people are governed. Look at America. No limit to the money invested into politics. Many politicians die in office bc they make so much money from it. 110
mrmilesweaver.bsky.social @mrmilesweaver.bsky.social · 16/07/2025Moreover, nothing of what they're proposing will actually improve the economy or people's lives. Will it result in more jobs? Will it help resurrect the high street? No. Reeves' idea of growth is just 'GDP number go up'. It's indescribably shortsighted and ignorant of what the economy actually needs 1141
Philip Machanick 🇿🇦 @philip-mach.bsky.social · 16/07/2025Yes. mg.co.za/thought-lead... There’s an inherent structural flaw in a political party tied to organised labour. When electoral-financial pressures shift away from their interests, it’s hard for unions to break from such an alliance. Also happened in Australia and South Africa.mg.co.zaLying with the facts: Labour leaves the leftRhetoric like Keir Starmer’s inflammatory comment on migration makes it more difficult to advance real solutions, which are complex and need careful explanation 011
Steve B @stevebasnett.bsky.social · 16/07/2025Either a succession of governments have been wilfully and easily misled on what generates genuine growth, or they do understand macroeconomics and continue anyway with their disastrous policies for chum and personal gain at the expense of the country and its people. Which is it? 141
David Rowe @davidrowewtl.bsky.social · 16/07/2025How can it just be the two if them? Surely it must be many more Labour people. Therefore either they have been convinced this is best for us (lets hear why, even if it is leaked) OR they are too cowardly to face the Tory pair‽ It's not good enough! 000
