I mean, the Democrats branded it the "Green New Deal" specifically so people would connect it to FDR's popular and successful jobs programs and the media convinced voters it was just a radical woke conspiracy/Chinese climate hoax thing. It's the propaganda machine more than the message itself.

Are we really gonna pretend the NYT op-ed page would support a $20 minimum wage?
