X-Treme X-Men may have been the less cutting-edge option for X-Fans, but giving Claremont his own sandbox -- with some of the most popular characters -- worked out really well.

Where his 2000 run on the flagships was scattershot and clunky, X-Treme was remarkably lucid and clear in its identity, even as the story sprawls. It's a new millennium update of the Claremont Touch, with compelling characters and a plot that spiderwebs out intriguingly.
